Noise - the main reason for bad hearing?

Surveys indicate that noise seems to be the main reason for bad hearing among adults. Figures from the National Centre for Health Statistics, USA, hearing diseases for the year 1994 show that in 33.7% of the cases noise is reported to be the main reason for becoming deaf or hard-of-hearing. Another 28% reported that their loss of hearing was due to old age, hearing diseases while 17.1% reported that the hearing loss was due to an infection or injury. Only 4.4% reported the presence of hearing loss at birth. In 16.8% of the cases of bad hearing, the hearing impairment was caused by hearing diseases something else, including inherited diseases, which was not present at birth.
